Upcoming Events:
This is all on the home page, too, but I wanted to make sure nobody missed the details.

I have great news! On November 15, I'm doing a book signing/reading with three other very cool women: KG MacGregor (this year's Lammy winner for lesbian romance), Ruth Perkinson, and Claire Rooney. It will take place at the Barnes & Noble in Charlottesville, Virginia, at 4:30pm. I've never been there, so I won't be of much help in the directions department, but I'll see what details I can find out and post here for those who are within a reasonable driving distance.

But wait! There's more! That very same day, just before our signing, the very same Barnes & Noble will be hosting a signing by legendary lesbian author Rita Mae Brown! Can you believe that? We'll be in the presence of an icon. So come out to Ms. Brown's event at 2:00, then stay for ours. What a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon, no?

But wait! There's STILL more! Later that night, the four of us (me, KG, Ruth, and Claire) will be hanging at a nifty place called The Gravity Lounge where there will be a lesbian dance. Fun! It technically starts at 10:00, but I suspect we'll be there a bit earlier. Check out The Gravity Lounge website for details.

I look forward to seeing you there!

Reviews and Such:
Curve Magazine, June 2008 issue
I got interviewed in Curve, which is so incredibly cool, I don't even have appropriate words. Plus, it's perfect timing, as Finding Home is released this month. The Top Chefs are on the cover and my interview (and picture!) are on page 72. I feel so lucky to have been able to have such a feature...I'm still flying high. And sending copies to everybody I know!

Curve Magazine, October 2007 issue
Curve
has printed a really awesome write-up on Fresh Tracks in this month's issue (it has the incomparable Margaret Cho on the cover). See page 69 (and giggle like I did about how funny it is that I ended up on that page number). Many thanks to Elizabeth Allen for the kind and generous review.

Past Events:
Golden Crown Literary Society Convention 2007
June 7-10, 2007
Location: Atlanta, GA

As always, the GCLS convention was a blast. Once again, it was bigger than last year, with plenty of informative workshops, entertaining panels, and an award ceremony that was bathed in excitement.

I'm proud to say that Fresh Tracks took home a Goldie for Best Romance! Yay! And congratulations to my fellow BSB authors who also won awards. See the pictures to the right. Spiffy-looking group, no?

It never ceases to amaze me, the number of readers who take their vacation time and spend their hard-earned money just to spend a long weekend with their favorite writers, and I'm touched by those of you who sought me out for autographs, handshakes, or just to say hello. Thank you so much for your support. It's people like you that keep people like me writing. I look forward to the next time we meet.

Lambda Literary Awards 2007
May 31, 2007

Location: New York City

I'm still a little flabbergasted when I think back on this night. The ceremony was amazing and there were some faces there that were VERY familiar; it was almost surreal to be included as a "peer" to them. Katherine Forrest, Kate Clinton, Alison Bechdel, Christopher Rice, Alison Smith (who's from Rochester!), as well as several BSB authors, including Radclyffe, JD Glass, KI Thompson, Cheri Crystal, and more. It was practically a who's who of the gay literary world and I was pretty much in awe the entire time.

I'm happy to say that I was too enamored to partake in any of the wine, which was probably a good thing because--much to my stunned surprise--Fresh Tracks actually won! Christopher Rice was handsome and funny as he announced the Best Lesbian Romance category and I wasn't at all nervous up to that point. Anybody who knows me will think that's strange, in and of itself, because I worry about everything and I'm nervous way more often than I need to be. Looking back, I think I never expected I'd win, so why be nervous about it? But when Christopher Rice called my name, every muscle in my body began to shake and I'm still astonished that I managed to make it out of my seat, down the stairs, and across the stage to the podium without falling. In heels!

I gave what I've been told was a coherent speech (thank God) and my Lammy is now proudly displayed in my living room, along with my Goldie. 2007 has been pretty amazing for me. Wow.

Several of us BSB authors won that night. From the left, here's Ronica Black, Merry Shannon, Radclyffe, Jane Fletcher, Catherine Friend, JLee Meyer, moi, and Stacia Seaman. Congrats to all!

My dear, dear friend, Gabrielle Goldsby, looking as smokingly hot as ever.

Georgia and Rachel Spangler

Rachel Spangler gave me fashion advice and was kind enough to let me try out her accessory. I'm hoping the mix of the two patterns didn't send anybody into a seizure...
