Fan Fiction

Xena and Gabrielle

This is where it all started for me with fan fiction. Ah, Lucy and Renee...the warrior princess and her bard. Was there anything more sexy than the big, tough warrior and her sweet, gentle sidekick? After only one season, the constant question became were they or weren't they? Don't be silly. They totally were.

ER - Kerry and Kim

My crush on Elizabeth Mitchell reached a fever pitch during her stint as Dr. Kim Legaspi. I had so much fun writing these two because the actresses made them so real to me. And then NBC went and ruined everything by not writing Kim in as a regular and turning Kerry into the polar opposite of how her character was originally written. Bastards.

The X Files

No offense to the Mulder/Scully shippers; I love them, too. But Gillian Anderson and Annabeth Gish had way more chemistry than anybody on TV at the time. I only wrote one piece that involves them, but I still watch the reruns when they're on SciFi. Who knows? Maybe I'll play with them some more one day.

Law & Order: Trial by Jury

My latest obsession. Bebe Neuwirth <swoon> took the character of Assistant District Attorney Tracey Kibre and ran with her, dragging adorable Amy Carlson along with her. What a great couple they make, so sexy and so much fun to write. I've been having a blast at the Trial by Jury fan fiction site. And then NBC went and ruined everything by cancelling what could have been (and already was) a great possibility for success. Bastards.

What is Fan Fiction?

If you've never experienced the joys of fan fiction, you're missing out, my friend! Allow me to enlighten you: take your favorite TV show and your favorite characters from that show - especially those you think should be together, but aren't (and probably never will be). Create your own situations for them, throw in lots of angst, a little action, and (if you prefer) a heaping pile of sex, and you've got yourself some genuine fan fiction. Not only is it fun to read, but it's fun to write...I find it to be a great writing exercise. Because I already know the characters, I can concentrate on plot, setting, dialogue, etc. It's a nifty tool to use.
